I’ve recently had users report to me that when they access my blog, they cannot see past the latest posting.

In Firefox, I open up the blog, and I can see the latest maybe 7 posts. Exactly what I had expected.

In IE, however, it hangs at the end of the first post and in the lower left corner, it says “1 item remaining”. But it never gets that one item. I have no idea what it is looking for!

Can anyone help me remove this problem??

    Thanks!
    joe

  • Hello. You need to provide the URL.

    Sorry about that……

    URL: https://www.laurensabine.net/blog

I tried it with IE6 and IE7, with the same results.

    Thanks!

You cannot cut and paste from Word. Word introduces incompatible code. You need to either paste from a text file, like from Wordpad or try the paste from word button on the editor in WP.

I don’t understand…what cut and paste?? Was there something specific you saw on my site that could be causing the trouble?

    Thanks!

You have posts on your site that have been created in MS Word and then copied or pasted as input for a post. Specifically everything after, “Gotcha! MMMmmmmm……….” starting on line 89.

Now I see why I didn’t understand you……because every post was entered directly through the wordpress editor!!!! I never used word to edit a post.
So how can you tell that is the case? Perhaps it can help
me track down how this happened.

    Thanks again!

This below in your source code is the dead giveaway that you or someone else has been copy and pasting from Word:

Sorry, that is simply not correct. The wp editor was used of course but the text entered into the editor was not keyed in directly. It was copied from MS Word which leaves all the formatting from Word which is incapatible with WordPress or normal html.

No, I’m not kidding you. I never edit my posts in word and paste them in. I always enter them directly into the wp editor. There simply was no cut and paste. Unless…..

I wonder if I had something in the paste buffer and accidently pasted it to the end. None of that junk I see in the HTML editor shows up in the visual view….so I might not have even noticed it when entering in the visual editor…..

    YEP!!

That must be what happened, since the “junk” pasted in is from an email about go-karting I had sent out!!

    Thanks guys…that really helps!!
