• I finally got my site the way that I want it to look and it looks fine on FireFox and Opera. But in IE the border below the header is shifted down and so is the content. Can anyone help me out and figure why this is happening. If everyone stopped using IE I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

  • It looks like your sidebar which is floated left is just a bit too wide for IE, so everything has to slide down to make room. Try specifying the width in the child-elements of #menu (with IE, sometimes it helps to keep width declarations seperate from border/padding/margin declarations).
This is why I use absolute positioning for page layout. ??

It looks like your “powered by WordPress” Div is a little too wide.

This is the answer to your problem(s).

well I fixed the content alignment but the border and the header are still out of whack.

yeah root it is. here in the next day or so I am going to be adding a link below the wordpress to the Gemini template. As a matter of fact I will try to do it after I finish writing this. But can anyone help me with the header border?

The Devil’s Advocate returns to throw a wrench in the works, and complicate matters even more… Josh, I for one, really liked your original concept with the horizontal navigation bar at the top. Providing that you keep all the pages the same width (among other things), this layout strives to resolve some of the problems you ran into– no thanks to Jeffrrey Zeldman, btw.

The above layout will be taken down Aug 12, 2004 20:00:00

well willneea I took your advice and went back to the origianl style. I do actually like it better then the vertical nav bar. It is basically the same one that I had origianlly but alittle bit different. Thanks for setting me straight

Josh, sorry but that’s never going to work the way you have it now.
The layout I did has been uploaded to this address:

Although I am no longer using with WordPress, I will leave it on my server through Aug 25. I’m sure that someone on this forum will be able to assist you.
