identify downloadable docs in search results

hi

I need to be able to show, in search results, if a result is a document that can be downloaded, in this case a word doc in the media library.

I can find images with wp_attachment_is_image

I can find post types with if ( ‘sausages’ === get_post_type() )

I was expecting that conditional comments would sort it out but they seem to be having very little effect inside my search result loop.

Can anyone advise?
