• Hi
I need some help to crack this puzzzle. I have two very identical sites, [ redundant link removed ] which is set to be new frontpage of the .se domain. They are hosted on different servers. The latter shows much better results on PageSpeed Insights than the former.
Anyone who can give me an idea as to the difference in performance?

    Thx

  • This is not a WordPress issue.
There are many factors re: page speed on shared hosting including number of CPUs, number of sites on the server, age / techology of server, etc.
Run them through here and address the output:

Your are right of course. Just thought that either someone would give it a look or it would be ignored. Thx anyway.

Your choice of hosting company and the server that it uses to store your website can significantly impact page speed, so be sure to choose a host and a plan that matches the needs of your website. For example, websites with massive databases may not perform as well on shared hosting. Some of the performance factors to consider when you compare hosting include:

    * Server Response Time – Look for independent data on Time to First Byte (TTFB), which is the measure of how long it takes for the server to respond to a request.
    * Equipment – Solid State Drives (SSDs) are much faster than mechanical drives.
*Accounts Per Server – If it’s shared hosting, an overcrowded server can reduce performance.

You can learn more about the reputation and performance of various web hosts through platforms such as Trustpilot and Hostscore, where you can read real user reviews and learn about server consistency.

The distance between the server and the user could also impact loading time. A site hosted on a server that is proximate to you will typically load faster than a site hosted on a server that is much farther away.

Additionally, it seems the two sites are not identical. I’d recommend that you check your pagespeed insights to get a sense of what might be slowing down your site. When I do this, .dk seems to be loading okay, but .se has a few files that take several seconds to come back (for example https://watercompany.se/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/kolsyra-ani.gif & https://watercompany.se/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/filtrerat-ani-2.gif).

    Hi Julia
Thx for you elaborate answer. The two sites share the same template, but on two different servers. That might as you say account for some of the differences in performance. One thing confuses me however. When I test the two in PageSpeed, the .se comes out much better than the .dk. Strange that you apparently get the opposite results.
