    Hi guys,

We are looking for your input as we develop the plugin further. We are always interested in improving the user experience, so let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

We are especially interested in how we can help users better display their Tweets on their websites and how we can help developers access and manipulate the data directly, to use in their own way.

    Hi mthalib,

I have just been looking into this and it seems possible. I have marked it to go into the big update for version 1. It might be a couple of weeks but it should make it in soon.

Its a good idea and we really appreciate you taking the time to post it. Thanks mthalib!

I agree to mikeyotoole: It would be nice to have retweets in the widget!

I just wanted to say thanks again to all of you who have made suggestions. All the above have been worked into a huge update and once a few kinks have been worked out we will be rolling it out.

We are really excited about the feature set coming to the plugin soon, in part made possible by the great suggestions we have had here!

    Hey Peter,

When retweeting something, it doesn’t appear in the widget, is it possible that retweets also appear?

    Hi Maartje_1992,

Currently, there is no way to display Re-Tweets as the plugin does not fetch them from Twitter. I have been working on this today and I will likely release an update which allows you to do this tomorrow.

You will then be able to choose between showing:

    1) Your Tweets
    2) Your Retweets
    3) All Tweets

I just need to do some more testing to ensure that I am correctly identifying and displaying Re-Tweets.

    Hi Maartje_1992,

It took a lot longer than I expected to test it but it is finally out and you can display Re-Tweets now. Enjoy!

    Hey

Sorry for my late reply, I was ill last days.
It works great and is really simple to use ??

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for implementing the Re-Tweet function ??

I would like to be able to control how much of the tweet is being shown, since right now it doesn’t show the whole tweet. Perhaps there could be an option to show either the whole tweet or the first part of it with a “read more” link.

Is that something that would be possible to implement?

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,

I noted this when I first added the feature and have not yet found a way to get ahold of the original Tweet content. What we are outputting is exactly what is returned to us by Twitter. I will continue digging to see if there is a way I can get the original content and display it exactly as it appears on the Twitter website.

I feel the same as you, it is strange getting the slightly different and shortened version. I will do my best to allow us to output the original Tweet exactly.

Thanks Peter. It’s good to know that it seems to be something on Twitter’s side.

As always, thanks for your quick support!

    Cheers

    Hi mrpchristensen,

I owe you an apology, Twitter was returning the original Tweet text for Re-Tweets too, I just did not notice it.

I have just updated the plugin to version 1.0.7 which should now correctly display Re-Tweets with their original content exactly.

Thank you very much for the feedback, it is appreciated!

The only thing I don’t see that I would /crave/ for is the ability to run a second instance of the widget with a different twitter account, without messing around by installing a second instance of the plugin and changing all the PHP references.

I have a normal twitter and a gaming twitter, and shy of bombarding all my non-gaming friends with Retweets, I don’t have any other way of showing those in the Widget you guys have.

    Other than that, I can’t complain. =]

    Hi kaecyus,

Thank you for your suggestion. We are already working on the next plugin ‘Kebo Social’ which not only includes many other social services, but also allows you to add many accounts for each service and then choose which to display for each Widget. This will let you make separate Widgets for each account.

On top of that, it will also allow you to make Widgets with data from many accounts at once. So you could make one Feed which displays data from both your normal and gaming twitter accounts.

We are aiming to have this finished, tested and released before the end of this year. Not so helpful for now, but eventually we hope to be able to give users an easy way to do this too!

I have a client who wants a twitter feed on his site that only contains tweets for today. If I send you a pull request that includes it as a configuration item, would you incorporate it?

    Hi ptomblin,

Most certainly, I will have a look through the pull request in the next few days and in all likely hood commit your changes. Thank you for making the time to contribute!
