Ideas on Featured Posts in Template?

Hey everyone,

So I’m looking to set up a “top posts” or “featured posts” section along the top of my website: https://www.airandseabattle.com that that has the look of sites like https://www.gothamist.com or https://www.gizmodo.com (where the images are featured in a row along the top).

If anyone has any ideas as to how to pull this off or can recommend a plugin it would really help.
