Ideas for a project blog ?!

Can someone help me with this scenario:
A project blog. (for designer / architect)
Three categories: news, gallery and projects.
News category like any blog. Some images as eyecandy, but mostly text. new entries in gallery and projects category get “announced” on news page with a short intro text and maybe preview image. Feedback on articles. This is the index page.
Gallery category, a collection of images with some text. Probably best not done with WP, but with Gallery script or something similar.
Project category, something of a hybrid. More images as illustrations thrown into the text than in a blog, but more text than in a gallery. Also different layout to gallery or blog.
… while I am writing this. I notice that I am not absolutely clear myself of what this project category should do. template based design is probably too rigid for the best presentation of very different projects with their specific points of interest.
Maybe someone has a link to a designer/architect blog which smoothly and flexibly integrates visual and textual information.
Maybe someone has already done this with WP?
