    Hi,

I do hope I am posting in the correct area.

I have done wide searches for this but all I come up with is WP websites with the posting ‘I’d like to meet you neighbour’, but no one is inquiring about a fix or solution.

At first I thought it was spam, but it now appears to possibly be internal?

If you do a web search for ‘I’d like to meet you neighbour’ you will quickly see what I mean.

Any solutions would be highly appreciated.

  • I’d like to meet you neighbour

Is 100% spam. Searching for that exact phrase, I see it popping many times in reviews, comment sections, etc.

The first clue is that if you search for the phrase with the US English variant “neighbor,” it yields no results.

“neighbour” is our first clue, as that’s the British English version of the word, and India uses British English, not US English. So, there’s a very slim chance that you might alienate a real user in the future, but I think adding neighbour to your spam words list would be fairly safe.

Other patterns/clues? What was the username/email/IP used?

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your reply. I disabled the contact form so it’s just arriving using my direct email.

I forgot to mention, which is the main reason I posted here. Even though I disabled the contact form the email layout appears exactly as per the contact form?
I guess this would be easy to duplicate but was curious to know if it might be a flaw to be able to submit the form even when ‘submit’ button is disabled?

    Thanks again.

Yes, some spammers are able to bypass the form completely and hit a file directly.

Which contact form plugin are you using?

Contact 7 which seems to be very popular, which can also be a great target.

Yes, Contact Form 7 is a very popular and important plugin. This may or may not help, but honeypots in general are my favorite ways to protect contact forms:

This is something I’ve been thinking about adding to Stop Spammers.
