Recently, ai1ec stopped automatically importing events from a Google Calendar/ICS feed. I am not 100% confident that this started with version 2.3.4, but the timing was very close.

Things I have done to troubleshoot this issue:

    • Noticed identical behavior in my local environment running mac/MAMP and the same software versions as production
    • Deactivated ai1ec plugin and reactivated
    • Installed Advanced Cron Manager to examine the wp-cron schedule–the ai1ec entry is not present
    • Deactivated all plugins except ai1ec and Advanced Cron Manager
    • Deleted the ICS feed entry from the Calendar Feeds options page and re-added it
    • Clicked the Save Settings button in ai1ec calendar Settings option page
    • Exchanged some tweets with @_Timely to find out if this was a known issue–they tried their best

Refreshing the feed manually works. Deleting the feed and re-adding it also imports all the events in the feed. I taught my client how to find the Refresh button, but we would both love the previous functionality to return.

    Thanks for reading.

I just rolled back my version of ai1ec to version 2.3.3, the previous release. After deleting the Calendar Feed and adding it again, the scheduled task ai1ec_cron shows up again in Advanced CRON Manager.

I have decided that 2.3.4 breaks Calendar Feeds because I have yet to witness it working.
