    Hi there,

I and understand you want to add alt text to the ShareThis emojis on your WordPress site (thanks for the reference at https://buzzer.translink.ca/2024/05/public-art-along-the-r6-rapidbus-route-explained/!).

While the ShareThis plugin doesn’t directly edit emoji alt text, here are two options:

    1. Custom Code Snippet (For Developers):
      • This involves adding code to your theme files to target the emojis and inject your alt text. Important: Only recommended for users comfortable with code editing! Modifying theme files incorrectly can break your website.
    2. Third-Party Accessibility Plugin:
      • Consider accessibility plugins like WP Accessibility Helper, A11Y, or Userway. These might offer an interface to add alt text for ShareThis buttons.

Whichever option you choose, keep your alt text concise and descriptive. Briefly explain the emoji’s function (e.g., “Share on Facebook”) using relevant keywords like “share” or the platform name.

Bonus Tip: Consider using ShareThis’ “Custom Buttons” feature to replace emojis with text-based buttons you can directly add alt text to within the settings.

Let me know if you’d like help finding resources for custom code implementation or exploring accessibility plugins!

    Best regards,
