When using 5.9 and Twenty Twenty Two, within the site editor, any icons that have been placed into template parts via the site editor do not render.

I can only guess that this has to do with which hook activates the font awesome code to render icons.

    Thanks for the report.

Could you provide some additional detail?

How exactly are you placing icons into template parts via the site editor?

When you say that they do not render: where are you expecting to seem them rendered but finding them not rendered? On the front end (normal page view)? Or within the site editor itself on the back end? Or something else?

I was able to type an [icon] shortcode into a block in the header using the site editor, save it, and then visit a page on the the site (front end), and see that the icon rendered there.

The icon shortcode does not render within the site editor view itself, because at this time, icon shortcodes are not rendered within any editor view (whether the block editor or classic editor). That’s not currently a feature of this plugin.

(I’m using a development version of the plugin to do this experiment at the moment, but I think this aspect of the functionality probably works the same as the currently published version.)
