Icon colors not updating

I followed instructions on https://support.heateor.com/color-share-icons-not-being-updated/ but the colors are not changing. Background changes, but icon color is white all the time; the plugin uses base64 images so can’t expect the color to change.

Also, I’m using a shortcode to display the share icons.

Any tips appreciated.
