I read an earlier post about problems with the iCal add-on for Google calendar. For me, I’m in a GMT-5 time zone (I always pick Chicago), and all of my appointment times are in GMT, adjusted for British summertime. For instance, a 4 pm appointment shows as 10 am this week, and it’s 11 am next week, which makes sense since Europe falls back to standard time on the last Sunday of October.

Is there anything I can do on my end, even if it requires something like Zapier or IFTTT, to make this correct? Thanks!

    Hi,

Please try adjusting the time difference in the settings (daylight observance time settings also available):

Thank you for using the plugin!

I appreciate the feedback, but all of those settings are correct.

I don’t think I have permissions to copy an image inside this window, so here are the pertinent details:
ical Time Difference = -5 hours (matching my system clock for living in Central Time USA)
    Observe Daylight Savings = Yes
    Daylight Savings = USA

If this problem is outside the scope of the plugin – like a Google interface issue – I understand. It would just be nice to know whether this is a known issue or something that I can fix. Thanks!

Thank you for whatever you did in the back end to fix this! I can confirm that newly added appointments are appearing correctly in CDT instead of British Summer Time (UTC + 1). For anyone else reading this, you will note that you sometimes have to wait up to 12 hours for Google’s iCal refresh for any changes made in bookings. That’s certainly annoying, but realize that it’s a Google thing. It’s outside the scope of this plugin.

There does seem to be a small issue with Daylight Savings vs Standard Time. In other words, all of my appointments next week are showing up an hour early. Those are after we fall back to standard time in the U.S. on November 3rd. Perhaps once the clock changes, these will adjust? That’s a much smaller issue – and I’m not going to keep this ticket open to address that.

Thank you again for your help!

    Hi,

I didn’t access the back end (I have no way to do that). I think the Europe daylight time change (it changed on Oct 27) is the cause of getting the times in the correct timezone now. If that’s the case any future solution is through using the field “Observe daylight saving time” and “Daylight saving timezone”.

    Thank you for the feedback!
