• When hosting with wordpress, there is a security option to allow only logged-in users to see the blog.

If hosting on one’s own server this doesn’t to be an explicit option as in

    WordPress (hosted with wordpress)

    Blog visibility:

    Options available

1 I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Sphere, and in public listings around WordPress.com.
    2. I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

    3. I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose

Up to 35 users allowed to access blog. Want more?
    Username:

    WordPress (hosted on own site)

    Blog visibility:

    Options available

    1. I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers

    2. I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

How does one achieve the same effect (of making the blog invisible to non-registered users. in a self-hosted wordpress blog.

The 3rd option (As it appears in a wordpress-hosted blog) doesn’t appear to exist.

If its not possible even confirmation of that fact will be helpful.

Thanks in advance for your advice and guidance.

Your very earliest reply most appreciated.
