    Hello to you!

I was hacked and new users were installed.
Wordfence let me know on the one site that it was installed on. THANK YOU!!!

So, I put it on my other 3 sites and got a email that told me I had a malicious file from the initial scan

    wp-content/stb-themes/stb-dark/lib.php

I dont understand how to work with code. I deleted something before and broke my site.

Will reinstalling WP or a backup get rid of it? Any advice on what to do?

    Thank you, Mary

  • Hi Mary,

I’m sorry to hear your site was compromised. Remove the users and upgrade your theme and plugins to start. The best resource is this document on cleaning a hacked site with Wordfence. It will walk you through the steps. If you have questions about it, please let me know.

Thank you, Brian, for your response.

May I ask what you mean by “upgrade”? They are up to date right now. Should I delete them and reinstall?

And thank you for the email for professional help. I may have to go that route.

    Thanks Mary!

    Mary,

If there are no updates listed you should be up-to-date. You may want to consider disabling any plugins you do not use as well.
