    Hello Yoast SEO Team,

    I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out because I am considering switching from the old sitemap plugin (name omitted) to your Yoast Sitemap feature.

    The old plugin started showing errors after an update, which concerns me due to potential impacts on sitemap performance.

    Recently, I discovered that Yoast offers a sitemap feature – a realization that came to me only recently.

    Before making the switch to Yoast Sitemap, I have several questions:

    1. Does changing the sitemap affect SEO? My old sitemap.xml contains more than 1k URLs, and I noticed that Yoast Sitemap URL’s are different.
    2. Is it sufficient to deactivate the old plugin and activate Yoast Sitemap, or are there additional steps required?
    3. After activating Yoast sitemap, do I need to resubmit the new sitemap URL to Google Search Console?

    Your guidance on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

    No, this won’t affect SEO. The sitemap is meant to indicate to bots what URLs should be indexed, and to understand your site’s structure.

    Is it sufficient to deactivate the old plugin and activate Yoast Sitemap, or are there additional steps required?

    We’d also recommend to remove the old sitemap URL from Google Search Console and submitting the new one.

    After activating Yoast sitemap, do I need to resubmit the new sitemap URL to Google Search Console?

    Yes, we would recommend that.
