Hi, I want to clone the linked Shopify store. What’s the best theme to install for WordPress and WooCommerce?

I’m guessing that is not your website, but you want to clone or have a similar design for your own WordPress website (which will have WooCommerce on it)?

@andre-jutras hi it is my website, just on a temporary domain. but yes i want to clone or have a similar design on my own wordpress website (which is on vaporvisuals.com). reason for switching is that it’s much cheaper to host it myself than subscribe to a shopify plan

    Thanks

Very true on the cost and having more control over the management of your own hosted website.

    Things to consider:

    1. Will you be using WooCommerce?
    2. For WordPress, do you have preference for the Classic editor or the block editor?
    3. Skill level for performing any of your own theme customization

The Shopify store from the link you provided, is a very basic design. Did you check out the free themes here at WordPress for a theme that might come close to the style you are after? The other option is to have a designer make one for you–which would be quite easy and fast for this one.

If you decide to check out the free themes here on .org, do a search for “WooCommerce” or “store”. Try to find one that doesn’t require a page-builder; just to make it a bit easier.

    1. i will be using woocommerce, correct!
    2. either or is fine, it seems to be that product descriptions use the classic editor anyways; while the page builder uses block editor it seems like.
    3. i’m quite new to customizing wordpress themes, even though i’ve used wordpress for years now.

i’ll check out the free themes; although how much would it cost for a designer to clone my shopify store style?

i’m currently using the Blocksy theme and a Blocksy Child theme starter

For the classic editor, a lot of people use this by way of the Classic Editor plugin, including the Classic Widgets plugin. But there are those who like the block editor because it does give more flexibility–depending on the type of content you are going to create and manage. If it’s just basic plain text, the classic editor path can work, otherwise, if you plan to create a little more details and mixed content and layouts for a post or page, the block editor will give you more flexibility.

Definitely check out the free themes and if one piques your interest try it out.

For the cost of a custom theme to mimic the example you provided, this will depend on the developer you choose. Fees can range from very little to a lot. However, look at the themes here on the .org website and choose a few of them to try out. I was going to design a theme for one person a couple of months ago but I didn’t have enough time, so I pointed them to GeneratePress. They seemed to be happy with that one. Check that one out.

Hi there! Cloning a Shopify store design for WordPress and WooCommerce can definitely be done with the right tools and theme. Based on the example you shared, here’s my take:

    1. Start with a Flexible Theme
For a highly customizable and lightweight option, I recommend checking out Astra, GeneratePress, or Kadence. These themes are not only versatile but also offer WooCommerce compatibility, making it easier to replicate the Shopify store’s layout and features.
    2. Use a Page Builder for Precision
Pair your chosen theme with a page builder like Elementor or Beaver Builder. These tools allow you to replicate the exact layout and design details of the store you’re aiming for without diving too deep into code.
    3. WooCommerce Extensions
To match Shopify’s eCommerce functionality, add WooCommerce extensions for features like product filters, advanced search, or upselling. Tools like WooCommerce Blocks can help create dynamic, engaging product pages.
    4. Custom Development (Optional)
If you want an exact clone or custom features that aren’t readily available, hiring a developer might be the way to go. Costs will vary depending on complexity, but it’s worth investing if you want a truly polished and unique store.
    5. Testing and Tuning
Once you’ve built the store, test everything thoroughly—especially the checkout process and mobile responsiveness. Shopify stores are known for their seamless UX, so make sure your WooCommerce version matches that.

Let me know if you need help choosing between these themes or setting things up! ??
