    i want the user to be able to search with the prefix but also keep the TLD’s list on the right:

    screenshot; it gives me input error, even when the drop down list is on all

    multiple websites have this option

    You should then use the selection type “Free Text Limited” in the general settings.

    don’t you think that the TLD’s list should still be there even if i choose the ” free text unlimited “, and have both options for the client?, many domain registrar’s have that

    I have not seen that many registrars using that and I do not really see an advantage in that.
