I think we'd all better check our wp_options tables!

  • Mine has exploded to over 132Mb with a whole lot of gallery transients.

    NextGen’s changelog looks like it has been trying to purge them, but I still have over 170 THOUSAND, despite being on the latest NextGen!

    I only discovered this when trying to back up my WP database before busting back to NextGen 1.9.13, and finding it timed out whilst saving wp_options

    Using Delete Expired Transients (and choosing Delete All Transients – use with Caution) I got the number down to 52,000

    That might let me do a backup without timing out. I’ll then purge the other 50,000, bust back to the earlier NextGen, and start looking for an alternative. Ever since v2 NGG has been a disaster! ??

    Oh, and you’ll need to optimize the table after deleting all the entries to remove the dead space.
