    • Are you still using the Yoast SEO: Search Index Purge plugin?
    • Do you still see the media (attachment) pages in Google search results?
    • What errors do you exactly see in Google Search Console?
    • Can you please share a relevant screenshot in which you highlight the issue you’re experiencing so that we can take a look at it?

The problem isn’t that they are still occurring, the problem is they are still displayed.

    1. Yes I am.
    2. Are you asking if the attachment images show up in Google results?
    3. See attached. There are over 170 of these.
    4. See attached

    Multiple screenshots are here …

Google Search Console will report issues with the URLs as they return a 410 status. This is expected behavior.

Do these URLs actually appear in search results? I tested a few of the URLs listed in the screenshots using site:URL and none were listed in search results.

Once the URLs are no longer listed in search results, you can safely remove the Search Index Purge plugin and keep Yoast SEO’s redirect setting on “Yes”. This will remove the attachment sitemap thus telling Google to stop crawling the attachment URLs. The ‘Submitted URL has cr..” message may remain in Google Search Console for a while but as long as crawled date is before you removed the Search Index Purge plugin, you can safely ignore the message.

    Thanks for the response.

From the sampling I have done, they do not appear in the search results. My issue is that they clog up GSC.

I have now disabled the purge plugin. If I’m reading you correctly, the errors in GSC will now start to clear up?

Also, which redirect setting are you referring to?

    Thx

    Hi,

You identified several issues. We have responded to them below.

    A. If I’m reading you correctly, the errors in GSC will now start to clear up?
Yes. You can expect it to overtime.

    B. Also, which redirect setting are you referring to?
We mean to redirect the attachment pages. Go to SEO-Search Appearance-Media and make sure it says YES. This will pull future attachment pages off the site and prevent Google from indexing them

    A. It’s not and that’s the problem. The errros do not occur anymore but they still sit in the console and the console shows I have hundreds of errors.

    B. That was done.

So… I will go back to my original question. What can I do to get rid of all of these errors in GSC. Just to clarify, they are not occurring anymore, but the old ones are displaying. They clog up my error view.

Unfortunately, there’s no manual way that you can use to remove all the relevant errors from Google Search Console. As mentioned, you can expect them to disappear automatically it to overtime but we’re unable to confirm exactly when.
