  • Urgent Help Required – Locked Out of WordPress Dashboard Due to Member Plugin Issue

    Dear WordPress Support Team,

    I recently encountered an issue while using the Members plugin on my WordPress website. I accidentally modified my user permissions, which resulted in losing access to my dashboard. To resolve the issue, I deleted the Members plugin via FTP, but unfortunately, this hasn’t restored my access to the dashboard.

    I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this problem without affecting my website or its functionality. I am currently unable to update my website, manage plugins, or perform any administrative tasks.

    If you could provide guidance or steps to regain access to my dashboard, I would be extremely grateful. Please let me know what can be done to resolve this as quickly as possible.

    User roles and capabilities are persistent, so removing the plugin responsible for them will not resolve your problem. If no other site administrator can help you, you’ll need to access the phpMyAdmin app to directly alter the DB and reset your user role and capabilities. It’s usually accessed through your hosting account.

    In the app, navigate to the WP database and the users table. Determine your user ID. Next go to the usermeta table. I recommend exporting a backup of the table if not the entire DB prior to making any changes. Locate the “wp_user_level” record for your user ID and change it to 10 if it’s not already set to that value. Next locate the “wp_capabilities” record and change it to the default admin value:
    a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}
    You will lose any role and capability customizations that may have been applied, but it should allow you to regain access to the WP admin area.
