• I am not a developer. I made the mistake of thinking I needed to use SSL with my site. So I went ahead only to find out I had to buy a certificate for every sub domain. I have 17 of them. I had run your software. So now I want to reverse the process. Is that possible?

    G’day OldTrog,

Just deactivate the plugin, it will stop doing it’s thang. Nothing is permanent with this plugin, so deactivating it will undo anything it was doing.

For your subdomains, consider buying a wildcard certificate, e.g. *.example.com — more expensive than a single-domain cert but it will work for any new domains that you add.

Alternatively, consider using CloudFlare. They can cover you with a free certificate for your domain and subdomains.

    cheers,
    Ross

    Hi Ross,

Thanks for the prompt reply. When I spoke to the hosting support they looked behind the scenes and told me there was a lot of hard coded statements https. This will only have been done as a result of the attempt to add a certificate. How does that square up to your comment – nothing permanent? I had run this site for a couple of years without a certificate. The problem only occurred when I switched hosting companies. I tried downloading free materials for my customers and get insecure warnings. Since I don’t do financial transactions from my site I don’t really need a certificate. Do you have any comments?

If so, it has nothing to do with this plugin. This plugin makes changes to the output of WordPress on-the-fly, and only when you load a page via https. Its sole purpose is to clean up problems with assets (images, scripts, css) loading on http when a page is loaded on https.

It sounds like you need to do a lot more talking with your host, or hire a WordPress specialist to help you clean up whatever they’ve done when they moved you across.

I am preparing to Add Comodo FREE SSL certs, via my Bluehost hosting account. I have 40 individual URL’s/Domains in this one cloud based shared hosting account and I will be adding a separate SSL certificate to each domain.

I am reviewing using the following WP plugins, after adding an SSL cert to a domain: SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin, Really Simple SSL/WP plugin, WP Force SSL plugin.

Do these plugins play nice with each other – or – should I only be using one or to of them?
