• Hello. I am working on my church’s website. The url was https://web.hsdo.org/. I thought the “web” part of the url looked weird so I changed the WordPress url and Site url to https://hsdo.org/. Now, I can’t access the dashboard. The church is not computer savvy and I don’t think they even know their server, hosting, or FTP information. Is there any way to fix this without going through the backend?

If i type hsdo.org into my browser it takes me to the website but I have activated “The Ultimate Coming Soon Page” plugin and can’t login.

If I type web.hsdo.org/wp-login.php it takes me to the login screen but I’m unable to login because I can’t read the captcha.

If anyone knows how to fix this, please help. Thanks.

  • Unfortunately no, if they were able to set up WordPress, then they must have had access to either their hosting or their FTP, which you’ll need to get it back.

I do have a MYSQL backup on my computer if that makes any difference…I don’t know how I would be able to use it though if I have no access to the backend…

Nope, that doesn’t have the login information necessary. Reach out to your hosting provider and get the information you need.

Once you have FTP access, see Changing_The_Site_URL for details of how to correct the url issue.
