• I’m starting on a high-profile fan website, and found this program through theonering.net and liked how it looked there.

    Here’s exactly what I need:
    – Left navigation is a vertical column of graphic images (portraits of people) that are clicked on to go to other sections (one for each person).

    – Center news feed/article space.

    – Right navigation is text links to other areas in that same section.

    – Each section will be identical other than color scheme, with will be different for each section – dark colors on the outside, lighter related color for the news text box in the center — ideally the outer dark colored sides/background would also have a subtle “wallpaper” pattern.

I’m guessing I can tweak the colors somehow in the code via CSS? But what about background images and the left picture button navigation? I can’t find a template/theme that has this feature.

This site needs to be launchable by the middle of September. It must look professional and slick. Help me please!!

  • I am no expert, but if I understood your question correctly I would try the following:

Firstly find an existing widget enabled, 3-column theme which would provide the basic layout for you.

Then create an individual page for each person. Using a text widget (which also supports html) you could display the images in the sidebar, which, when clicked would link to the individual’s page.

There is an excellent plugin which I can recommend called widget logic which allows you to control which widgets appear on each page. You can use that to control what appears, and when, on the right hand sidebar (your links)

As for different colours per page, I’m not sure, but perhaps you should consider looking at having a different CSS per page.

Not sure if this is what you’re after but I hope it helps.
