I need feedback from people on Blue Host and Dream host. I have been taken by too many hosts trying to find good one.

    PLEASE HELP!

  • bluehost is great, dreamhost is so-so.

asmallorange and mediatemple are also very good

I would have recommended Inmotion.net before two days ago. They’ve been great up until then. But they’ve just started with an apparently bogus “you’re using up our server resources – pay more or get dropped” sales pitch. So I’m now in the same boat as you. ??

Apparently Dreamhost uses the same tactic.

https://www.hostmysite.com has wordpress installed and they are great.

I can recommend Hostrocket. I’ve been fairly pleased for the most part. Going on 5 years with them now. I’m running MANY WP installs, and occasionally have an issue or two, but seem to get them ironed out fairly quickly. They do have WP available in a Fantastico install, but it’s an older version. https://www.hostrocket.com

Hmm – Im using POLURNET as a host – they have been very helpful with my many newby questions as I took over the whole job of running my sites. Cheep with seveal hosting plans.
Their support is online chat as well.

I use enom.com and have had no problems after 3 years.

I chose bluehost because they had very good reviews when I was looking around and so far I haven’t had any problems.

There are some advantages to bluehost, such as the fact that you can host six domain names on one account free of any extra charge (in case you want multiple blogs), the first domain name is included for free, and they don’t charge extra for the domain privacy service either. About a month after I signed up they even upgraded everyone’s account to include more storage and bandwidth.

And it was extremely easy to autoinstall wordpress in their control panel. Basically, you just click a couple buttons and wait a minute.

Any specific recommendations for a new host for a site that utilizes a lot of transfer bandwidth? I have a 5mg movie on my site, and just had to upgrade to the next level (50$) with thirdsphere, who I’ve been very happy with, however this is getting expensive, for the extra transfer bandwidth.

    Thanks!

I’ve been quite happy with Site5 since the start of this year.

What kind of bandwidth do you really use per month? You might want to look into finding a ‘file hosting service’ separate from your site (some cost, some are free), if it’s that one file causing you tons of trouble.

Well, I settled with Blue host, and I am VERY happy with their service for numerous reasons. They give you 400GB of bandwidth, on the basic plan.

even when I went over my cpu load of 20% it only suspends the account for five minutes. That in and of itself is unusually understanding. Plus I can get tech support on the phone very quickly. They really helped me try and figure out why I was using too much bandwidth and never took the road of it is all your fault. good thing because it was something outside my control. Trackback spam. I finally had to get rig of all trackback links, and then no problems. 8^)
