• Hello y’all,

I was trying to improve the search function on my photography website by creating an entirely new search page. I scrapped that and then went to the 2012 theme and tried to replace my search.php with that from 2012 theme. Duh, I should’ve known that wouldn’t work.

I then replaced that with the original search.php. My original problem was that the search results only showed the title of each post, not the image associated with it even though I was using featured images.

So now I expected to go back to that same type of search result with only the title, and no image, but now every search I do goes straight to the theme’s 404 page. I’ve posted this question on the Portfolio Theme support page here on wordpress, but it’s been over 2 weeks and I can see that there is little support on that page. This is why I’m asking in the general forum.

My goal is to just use the original search.php and then get that fixed to provide thumbnails in the search results.

I hope I haven’t confused anyone with my problem. If you need more clarification, I’ll provide it.

    Thank you so much,
    Brian

  • Hi Brian, assuming you haven’t modified any other files, flush your permalink settings by going to Settings -> Permalinks and then save. That ought to clear up your 404 error.

Unfortunately, premium themes are not supported on these forums as they’re staffed by volunteers without access to the themes, so we’d just be guessing. And we’re here to support an open source product. I’m sorry you’re receiving such poor support from organic themes, I’d be frustrated by that as well. There are a lot of fantastic themes on the repo here made specifically to showcase photography.

    Thanks Andrew.

Also, is it a premium theme if it is free? I know they offer a paid version too, but I don’t have that one.

If I change themes, I wonder if I can still have the post-type “portfolio items” show up with the new theme if the new theme only supports “posts” not “portfolio items.”

    Thanks,
    Brian

We generally only support themes that are distributed on www.remarpro.com, regardless of their price.

We can recommend general resolutions. Anything specific to the theme is out of our scope.
