• Hey guys,

I messed literally everything related to this website up. I have an AWS Lightsail instance and I was trying to get an SSL certificate and ended up editing the .htaccess and wp-config.php files, as well as a bunch of other stuff. Now my website has a little lock icon next to the address bar, but it keeps showing me ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS. My code is a mess and I want to just start over and get rid of everything except my domain name. How do I delete my website without being able to get into it or the wp-admin dashboard? And do I need to delete my aws lightsail instance and create a new one?

My main aim is to just start over and do it right, now that I kind of know what to do. I just don’t know how to revert all the changes I’ve made.

    Please help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Why don’t you try restoring your last known good backup and restart making your changes from there?

Hi @jnashhawkins , I didn’t make any backups, this was my first attempt!

Okay then… You might ask your host if they happen to have a backup they could restore for you but don’t depend on your host to do backups for you…

Else delete your database from the MySQL then delete all the files via FTP or the hosting File Manager if there is one. Then reinstall the same way you did before.

Some hosts offer reinstalling the apps they offer in their control panel or even restoring the whole instance… If AWS offers either of those then give it a try.

Okay! I’m very new to this, so do you mean I go into Filezilla and manually delete every file? Also, dow do I delete my database from MySQL? Would that make the lightsail instance the way it was when I first created it? Then I would just do everything over again? AWS does not seem to offer reinstalling or restoring unless you have snapshots, and I only learned what those were yesterday.
