I like it and recommend everyone try this plugin

On a non-production WordPress site, of course. It is still being developed.
DISCLAIMER: I am one of those users who adapt unconsciously to the UI I am using. That being the case, I like this new editor.
I installed the 1.0 version of this plugin on my live site. I found that I just typed and and let the editor flow. The button bar was not obtrusive and except for finding the Save Draft link on the top left, I had an easy time with this new editor.
It’s not perfect but neither is TinyMCE.
Sometimes you have to mix it up to prevent stagnation.
I’ve read the other reviews here and I find that they are in these categories.
- Productive feedback of a new editor
- Why do you want to change anything? I’m afraid of change.
- RAGE! RAGE! RAGE!
I’ll leave off commenting on the last one ’cause while that is feedback, seriously?
TinyMCE is dated and that’s not a bad thing. Dated usually means stable and people like stable. But it also sometimes means stagnant too.
This plugin is an attempt to refresh the post editor. Sometimes change for change’s sake gets things moving. What if we moved this there? What if the API also supported other things?
Until you try and provide a new experience, you really do not know. I like this plugin because it’s easy for me to use. I created an 800 word post using this editor and while it did have a small bug, it’s in flux right now. This plugin is being developed and is why people should not use it on a live site.
I use it on my live site because I can get out of a hole if I put myself there.
Don’t be afraid of change. Change is good and encourages new ideas. That’s what is being attempted with this plugin. Give it a try, provide feedback and help improve it. I did and I was pleasantly surprised.
I wrote a post and didn’t notice that I was using Gutenberg. Isn’t that the goal of any enhancement? Do the job and get out of the users way.
