I’ve read a few of the posts about why weather isn’t showing up lately. I am using the plugin to display weather for Nosara Costa Rica on a vacation home site. Frequently, the weather gets hung up on yesterday, and shows yesterday + the next 6 days instead of starting with today. but it also frequently displays 0o if it can not reach the server. it got me to thinking…

could you create a setting that allows the weather to cache itself when the server does respond, and if the next time it responds if the API sends back 0’s, could it just use the last legitimate report? This would at least keep the weather from displaying 0’s and looking broken. It might not be the most up to date report, but it would be something.

Thanks for a pretty cool plugin. I wish this was around 15 years ago!

    Thank you for your feedback!
This is definitely the next big thing I need to implement in this plugin to improve stability! I’m pretty sure, I’ll be released this soon.
    Stay tuned!

    cool.

I noticed there was an update today.
I tried the update on one of my sites, and my forecast is now starting with tomorrow, instead of today.

@rainbowgeek – I’ve kept up with the last couple of updates. the weather worked correctly the first few times I checked it, and now seems hung up on yesterday’s forecast for this week… I am wondering if this is now caching old weather due to the api’s slow performance or if there is another issue? it would be great if there were some way to determine, from the dashboard or in an html comment, if the displayed weather was realtime or cached info.

    thanks

You can display Update date in Display tab when creating your weather, but it’s the date from OWM feed, so it will not tell you if it’s cached or not.

    Hi,

    I just tried this out.

Before turning the date on in the display tab, the weather output was stuck on sunday’s weather being the first item.

Then I turned the date on.

This caused the weather to update to begin with tomorrow’s weather, and it inserted the update date…

    “Last update: Jan-1-1970, 00:00”

Same problem here. Each time I open the page the forecast for all days is 0°C, have to reload the page 2 or 3 times to get the forecast.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

I’m curious if you’ve had any more progress with this caching issue. I’ve noticed on two seperate sites, with different weather locations, that the weather only changes if I update the weather options for that location. Just have to hit update and it refreshes. Otherwise it sticks on the same report as the last time I hit the update button.

Well it still doesn’t work, I’m moving to Weather Underground plugin which actually works.

It’s a shame because this plugin has a lot of potential, but a broken plugin is of no use.

    Good luck.

I updated 2 sites, but both are showing 0oF for all days. maybe this is just the api being down, I will check again later, but it’s a little discouraging.

today’s update appears to have resolved this problem, I will keep an eye on the sites to see if they are operating smoothly.

    THANKS!! Appreciate the quick response.

I just wanted to check back in and let you know that after 2 weeks, the plugin seems to be working quite well. It hasn’t served me a 0of or a blank slate, the cache seems to stay up to date, it loads the correct days of weather… very happy with the performance for my uses.

so, thank you rainbowgeek for all the hard work.
