causing my website to be maxing out CPU on my shared hosting? This is the error:

Scan Engine Error: Wordfence could not start a scan because the cron key does not match the saved key. Saved: 4648b2d31b1c356310ccb08c Sent: 469a2e53c5f43955ab52e4b Current unexploded: 1413574421,4648b2d31b1c356310ccb08c

It is in the process of these four scans when it happens so I’m not sure which the error is from but I assume themes or plugins as I didn’t get the error before activating the scan of those two options.

  • Can you try checking the box on the options page that says ‘disable config caching’?

    Thanks Tim! That worked. ??

Thanks! I must admit I was hoping it would find something bad to solve my problems but alas no such luck. ??

Is it still maxing out? Run top from the command line in ssh and see what’s hogging the processor.

Hi Tim. Thanks. Yes it is still doing it periodically. It is very random. I am doing that now. Don’t really understand what I am seeing but so far I only see 2 commands running. Top and Bash. I guess once whatever is hogging it starts up again it will add a command? Sorry I’m not really that knowledgable at this. ??

Yeah, it should show up in the list. Watch the %CPU and %MEM columns.

If you see something taking up a huge percentage of memory or cpu , then that’s usually the problem.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me with this. I’ve been so lost!

Mine is showing literally 0.0! https://postimg.org/image/jgphycpcl/ Yet my Resource Usage in cPanel is showing 25-50% at the moment. (Not maxing out but doing something).

It actually just maxed out while I was replying to you. I had my ssh window open and no change. How does that even make sense? My add on domain should be under that login for ssh as well in case it’s my other site. (Which would be weird because it is very bare bones content and plugin wise).

Maybe I missed it. It was only for under a minute. I wish it would run a log instead of me trying to catch it real time! LOL

Try running this from the command line (not in top)
    ps aux | head -1; ps aux | sort -n | head -10

    See what that gives you

Shows more commands -jailshell, ps aux, sort -n, head -10 but all 0.0 %CPU usage still. *head desk* I’m so lost! Is there anything that will monitor it but over a span of time to catch when it is maxing out?
Again THANK YOU so so so much for this!

    No problem ??

I’m off to bed right now but I’ll look tomorrow and see if I could throw something together to run this hourly and output toa log file with times and dates so you can catch something (hopefully)
