• Blog seems to be appearing fine to the world.

The problems began with my wordpress stat dashboard, a few days ago it stopped loading. Just the whirling circles.

So yesterday I saw updates could be done, so I clicked it.

Now my editor has completely changed to a layout I have never seen before and do not understand. Worse, every image in the editor on every post is broken. Mind you, it still appears fine publicly. It’s only within the editor that everything is broken.

I have no wordpress experience. I signed up for this because it was supposed to be so user friendly. I”m a writer, not a developer, and I have years of work and writing on this just to see every single page broken in the editor now. I suspect it is only a matter of time before these errors are viewable publicly, and I have no nerves left to try to figure out how to fix the behemoth of a disaster.

I just want my wordpress back like it was before, but I know that is never going to happen.

Thanks for letting me vent, as I don’t see any way to fix this when I am not a developer.

Furthermore, at least half the time or more now I get a straight Forbidden Access when trying to access different locations within my editor as well. And it isn’t consistent, you can’t duplicate it, it occurs randomly.

Has it been a long time since you last updated ?

Wordpress has undergone a lot of changes in the last few years. Your running a tweenty fifteen theme. When I looked at the internet archive you where at version 4.9.2 in march of this year. Now you are at version 6.1.1.

WordPress 5.0 changed almost everything things about how WordPress operates. The old editor you where using is just a distant memory. Welcome to the world of block editing. The block editor been around for 4 years now. You might want to spend some time looking at how the block editor works.

I always had automatic updates checked. And here I am.

I use the block editor on another blog. The problem here is, when I go to a past post to edit, the block “editor” has edited out all my media, large chunks of, or all of the text, and what remains is a mangled corpse of itself.

I remember when backwards compatibility and adherence to web standards was imperative when I went to school for web design years ago. Now nobody gives a shart about anything except who can race to the next 1,2, 3 point oh oh whatever.

I would rather spend time learning a new blogging platform than giving WordPress another opportunity to put me in this position again.

The final straw was the inability to delete this post. Power-trippy mod(s) drive away good clients [and the term “mods” is used very loosely since they’ve excused themselves from moderating by saying “every post stands, it will not be removed period.”] I’ve been here seven years, paid good money for seven years, and couldn’t be more disappointed with my experience.
