I just updated to Https from Http, Should I change URL under Settings> General

  • I have just updated my blog technosamigos.com from http to https. I got the SSL via cPanel provided by Comodo. For me everything looks fine but one thing I see on popular results for ‘http to https guide’ on web is to change the website URL. Contradicting to this, I see lot of similar questions to this one in this forum, have gone through most of them and all most have reported site went down after URL change.

    Should I change WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address [URL] in WordPress Dashboard from Settings > General? Currently they are set to http version.

  • Yes, it requires to change the both WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) with https protocol. Otherwise WordPress would keep running on old http protocol. But make sure that https is working on your server. You will be signed out once you update the settings and then you have to relogin with new address.

    I was just worried whether my site will go down or not. With your comment I have just did that. Also added https version in the Google Search Console as well.

    Any way to check whether http to https migration is done good or not?
