I didn’t think I was tech illiterate until trying to set up a self-hosted wordpress site. I registered a domain and hosting with siteground. I exported my wordpress.com file… and that’s about how far I’ve gotten. All of these articles that are supposed to “help” are really just confuing me more. Will I be accessing my blog through wordpress.com still?

  • No, if you have registered a domain name and pointed it to your hosting then you will access your website through your domain name.

You will need to export your website from wordpress.com to your new site under your own domain name at siteground. You need the instructions for “Moving WordPress” and also “Moving from wordpress.com”.
