I have a SEO question – please bare with me…
-
I love this plugin, I use it with all my sites…
So WP 6.6 introduced negative margins which should have happened since 2018… however this is the potential issue I’m running into:
- I created a Columns block with 2 columns, each 50%.
- On the left I placed an image block, and on the right a text block with a background color.
- I used the new negative margin on the text block like this, left margin -250px, and right margin 250px, to move the text box to the left and overlap the image, while keeping the text box the same size.
- So far so good, as far as the Desktop screen size goes.
- However, in mobile view, half of the text block is off screen, as WP does not have separate screen size controls.
- To fix this, I used this plugin, and duplicated the Columns block, and set the visibility for desktops so that the text overlaps the image, but on mobile it does not.
- Now, at this point, on all screens, everything looks perfect, with the overlapping text only on desktops.
Here comes my question(s): Even though everything looks great on all screens, looking at the html source code of the page, the code of both columns are present.
1. Aren’t the search engines going to view this as duplicate content? Or, the search engines are clever enough to understand media queries?
2. A broader question I guess should be why did WP introduce something like, where very easily this can potentially create issues on various screen sizes? What did I miss?
Thanks,
Nick D.A.
