I recently started a new website. I’m not interested in blogging or having anyone make posts or replies to it. It’s just an internal website for a group in our sailing club, and the world doesn’t need to know the site exists. I’ve already turned off something annoying called pingbacks, which has eliminated getting a lot of crap in my inbox.

Perhaps I made a mistake, but my main “page” wrbcsailaway.org is really a post instead of a page. It looks fine. I especially like it because it doesn’t have the /wordpress at the end that my other wordpress site has. But in my sidebar, there is something called ‘recent posts’ that comes up as wrbcsailaway.org/hello-world
which looks extremely juvenile (and asinine) for something designed and managed by a 70-year old. I can probably fish around enough to remove the sidebar listing for recent posts (I have turned off comments). Maybe that’s all I have to do to get rid of the perceived problem.

But the thing that puzzles me is that I can’t find any posts called hello-world in my editor-dashboard thingy. In fact there is only one post on the whole site. Maybe there was once such a post, and maybe (i.e. probably) I deleted it. I don’t know. Can someone tell me how to get rid of this teeny-bopper touch called hello world? Well at least it’s not ‘hello kitty’ ??
