• Hello,

when a user sets his profile to be private and another user clicks on it, the other user simply gets redirected to the start page without any message why this happened.

Is this the intended behavior, and is this configurable somewhere?

I mean, it’s kind of confusing and appears like a bug.

    Hello @michaelpersch

This is not a bug but this is how it was built. But you can modify this behavior using a hook.

You can use this code snippet to display a message on home page if user gets redirected when trying to visit a private profile.

If you are not sure how to add code snippets, I suggest you install “Code Snippets” plugin to add this code to your site.

    Thank you very much! ??

I know it is a lot of work you are doing, maybe someday in the future you could consider making it a configurable option?

    Hi @michaelpersch

You can enable or disable in profile access if a user can view/access private profiles. Go to wp-admin>Ultimate Member> User Roles> Edit a User> See Profile Access section. Here is a screenshot for reference: https://screenbud.com/s/6WvxQ756YgN

You can check this article to know more about User Roles Settings.

Yes, of course. I am using this option to be able to view private profiles as an admin. Naturally most users shouldn’t be able to see private profiles, but they should know that it is not an error if they get thrown back to the landing page for apparently no reason when trying to do so.

Edit: Another solution could be an option to not even let private profiles appear in the members directory. So no one should try to access them and people from the outside don’t need to know it even exists.

I get the feedback from users, they think something is wrong because they cannot access some profiles they find in the member directory.

    Hi @michaelpersch

    Sorry for the late response.

Users can set their profiles private via Account > Privacy > Hide my profile from directory.
