  • I don’t believe that it’s a bug in WordPress.

From what I can see in your text widget, you have not closed your <a> tag (Look at the blue highlighted area, there’s no </a> tag there). So the browser sees everything after that point as a link, and (depending on your stylesheet) that has got a huge chance of throwing everything out on your site.

Looks like a theme/widget/user error, and not WP. ??

nope, i have try to close it too. but also get the same error.
so i think this is an wordpress error, anyone can investigate this?
    i use catchbox theme.
i think is not depend by theme, anyone can do a little test on other theme?

That’s not a WordPress bug, but your installation (theme probably) does appear to have problems.

so i think this is an wordpress error, anyone can investigate this?

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Does the issue go away once you’ve done these things?

So you want to check if links in text widgets will throw off a site’s layout?

    @fonglh yes
@jan Dembowski i cant do it now, i have so much work with new article on my wpssite this days so i have time = 0
I just wanted to warn if someone more experienced than me could give it a try

I hate to say this, but we can’t give that a try without the exact same set up as you, because it could be any of the extra parts that you have on thre (the theme, any plugin, your own posts content) that’s causing the issues.

i think is not depend by theme

Have you actually checked this by switching to the default twentyeleven theme? Until you can do some of these checks for yourself we really can’t provide any more answers.

i will try tomorrow on other domain name at the moment i cant have access
and i will give you the results.
i dont try to change my theme now, because im not expert member and im new at wordpress i have fear to do some mistake in my actually theme. so this is the why i call the expert to give a little try on this

Just tried adding a link in a text widget, using twenty eleven on WordPress 3.4.1

No problems with the site layout with that configuration. It’s something on your site only, and thus not a WordPress bug.

Put <a> in code tags next time ??

    Never saw it before…
I think that your blog had a problem with the code.
