Hello, long time user of YARPP here. The plugin is pretty good but since I have 1000+ posts on my website at this point, I have trouble setting up the filters correctly.

I have a travel blog and the website category structure is very simple.

    Homepage – Continent – Country – Blog
Homepage – Travel Tips – Blog
Homepage – World knowledge – Blog
    Etc.

When I tell YARPP to consider categories with EXTRA WEIGHT, and titles only with minimal weight, it still pulls up many random posts from other countries with similar titles but in totally different areas of the world.

Why? Categories should weigh more heavy… I have been playing around with the settings for hours, days, even months, but I cannot figure it out. It doesn’t do what it should do as far as I can see.

It also doesn’t consider the ‘primary category’ set in WordPress as far as I can see.

PS. When I select ‘content’ the plugin doesn’t work at all, it just shows the same related posts on every page.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally: when exclusively setting ‘require at least one category’ or two or more, it doesn’t show any results at all.

It looks like the category filter isn’t working.

Are you using mysql-8? With the current code, mysql-5.7 gives much better results.
