I don’t understand the need of the free version.

You have exactly the same options in Gutenberg Editor to add audio.
I installed the plugin, and then I realized that you can only add one file.
Of course, the Pro version makes more sense if you have all the options you would expect from a player.
It’s obvious that you guys want to earn money for your work, but I don′t like this kind of Plugins, which offers so less functions, that you nearly have to buy the Pro Version.
A little more functions would do no harm…
