ok, I think I have it.

For anyone else, the player is fine.

If you don’t see it check that the URL ends used for the podcast is .mp3 mpeg for video.

This plugin is deigned for use with audio files, but the player should work with video files too (although I can’t guarantee it). Your files just need to have a legitimate audio file extensions (.mp3 or .ogg are the most common). Anyway – I’m glad you got this sorted out on your side.

I’m having difficulty with this also. Each podcast episode shows a download link, but no player. I’m not even getting an empty div. I’ve tried multiple mp3’s from different sources and the player won’t show up. Everything else about this plugin is perfect, so I hope I can figure it out!

I can’t think of a reason that this wouldn’t be working for you. The only way I could properly debug it is if I had access to your WordPress dashboard. The only thing I can think of is that you are only using the folder name (and not the full file name) od the MP3 in the input field – someone had that problem before. That being said, even if that was the problem you would still be getting an empty div where the player should be, which makes me think that maybe you modified the templates somewhat and removed the function the displays the media player.

Other than that I can’t see any other reason why the player wouldn’t show as I have never had that problem or seen it on any other site before.

The first thing I did when troubleshooting was to make sure that the full address to the .mp3 file was being used, and that didn’t make the difference. I’m using a pretty heavily customized version of Standard Theme (https://standardtheme.com) but I didn’t modify the post templates at all. I tried switching to the original unmodified theme, and even tried it in the Twenty Eleven default theme… the player still doesn’t show up. You can see the test site I’m working on here https://69.195.124.84/~cornesj2/sermons/

I’ve found a (hopefully) temporary fix by using the [audio] shortcode available through Jetpack, but it would be really nice if the player would show up automatically. My clients aren’t particularly tech-savvy and if I can avoid having to explain shortcodes to them that would be awesome! I didn’t use the shortcode in the top-most post, so you can see what that looks like.

If you’d be willing to take a look at my WordPress dashboard I’d be happy to give you login credentials, but I realize that that’s kind of asking you to go above and beyond in your support. But if you are interested in checking it out, you can contact me at [email protected].

OK – I’m almost positive the reason that you are not seeing the player is that your site is running on an IP address and not a proper domain name. This plugin uses the Mediaelements.js audio player and, as far as I am aware, it does not work with files that are identified by an IP address. If you test this out on a site that is using an actual domain name then I’m sure it will work for you with no problems.

Awesome, that’s great news. Thanks for your help!

I’ve got the same issue as darrensq, but I’m using a domain name.

https://letsrosh.com/podcast/level-one-podcast-12-12-12/ is the example podcast page

https://letsrosh.com/levelone/Blues_Hook.mp3 is the mp3 url, which shows up as the download link properly

    Any ideas?

OK – I’ve worked out the reason for this happening on some sites and I will have an update out for it ASAP.

It works wonderfully. Thank you for your help!
