    Here’s the deal:

I have been using the Apple iWeb WYSIWYG editor for a few months now with MobileMe. All good. As you may know, Apple are no-longer updating iWeb and are scrapping MobileMe: So I am migrating to WordPress and bluehost.

I have a years hosting on bluehost, a WordPress account and a domain name from Namesco. I have downloaded the one-click installation on bluehost. How do I now sync my WordPress account with the bluehost hosting? Why when I click on the URL with the domain I supplied does it not work? Does the installation install software onto the hard drive or is it all online? Can you edit it offline? I am so incredible lost. What is FTP?

I was so happy with Apple until they screwed me over with iWeb and MobileMe because any idiot could use it.

Anyway, here’s the link to my iWeb blog:
    https://web.me.com/adrenalinegirl/website/home.html

The domain I purchased was adrenalinegirl.co.uk but have taken it off my iWeb site to use for the WordPress one.

If you try and access adrenaline girl.co.uk it goes to the Namesco page saying it doesn’t exist!?

If someone could explain to me in simple english what the hell I need to do I would be grateful!

    Chars

  • Hi AdrenalineGirlUK,

I would agree that get reading over the basic documentation as esmi described will give you a good starting point. If you’re having trouble with getting WordPress installed, you may want to contact your host so they can doublecheck all of your DNS / nameserver settings to ensure your domain is pointing to their servers. They should also have the documentation available for installing WordPress onto their servers.

Why when I click on the URL with the domain I supplied does it not work?

Are you referring to adrenalinegirl.co.uk ? I just tested it and it looks like its working.

Does the installation install software onto the hard drive or is it all online? Can you edit it offline?

WordPress is installed on your hosting account, not your hard drive. You will need to be online and logged into your WordPress’ Admin section in order to make any changes.

    Hi Adrenaline,

    You’ve asked several questions here.

    1. You say you’ve downloaded the one click installation on Blue Host.
    a. Just have them install and place it in the root folder.

    2. How do I now sync my WordPress account with the bluehost hosting?
    a. On your name server, “Namesco”, you need to point to the hosting on Blue host. Example. Ns.domaincontrol26.com. Most hosts will have two three name servers that point to the site. Go to namesco and change the ns.

    3. Nothing is installed on your computer. You will do your editing through the admin when you log in online.

    4. ftp is file transfer protocol. It is uploading or downloading from your computer to the host, or the reverse.

    5. You don’t really need a page editor unless you’re tweaking things that the editor on wordpress doesn’t handle.

Essentially, just point your domain name provider to the address on the host provider.

Hope this helped and keep blogging.
