There’s a great number of threats (both external and internal) you need to protect a website against.

If you have a small business website, do yourself a favor and install the free Wordfence Security plugin. After a week, look at the activity logs and you’ll get a good sense of the unseen threats hammering away at your website. It’s quite an eye opener to see how much international traffic visits a website’s WordPress login page.
