I changed the lay-out of the search box, but it doesn't work

Dear Sir/Madam,
For the website https://www.fysiotherapieoegstgeest.nl I made some changes in the search box using your super plugin. The weird thing is: alhough I put white as background color twice, it’s only shown when you put the cursor in that box. Otherwise it’s dark grey. I made a screenshot of the settings and the preview. Can I upload that somewhere?
I could really use your help on this.
