    Hello,

I changed the domain name in plesk and renamed the wordfence plugin so that its not trying to include the waf file anymore but the file with the wrong path is stil an issue and it crashes the site. Can anybody helP?. I lose a lot of time on this. Your software is not prepared for a domain name change. It makes it highly complicated

Hi @jokezilla, thanks for reaching out and sorry to see you’ve had a problem with changing your domain name.

The plugin shouldn’t be dependent on the domain name itself, but if the host changes the path name (such as the folder the site is contained in normally reflects the domain), the firewall optimization may be causing the “crashes” you mention.

The line causing the problem is likely the auto_prepend_file in your .htaccess or .user.ini file (depending on your environment) that points to the wordfence-waf.php file. You can simply delete this line manually using FTP or your hosting file manager to prevent any issues with the site content loading and place Wordfence back into “basic protection”. Once your site loads again, you can re-optimize the firewall using our wizard, which will reflect the new path.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
