I can’t upload .xlsm files (Excel Macro files) in WP v. 5.0.2

  • After updating my WordPress from v. 4.7 something to v.5.0.2, I’m no longer able to upload .xlsm files (Excel Macro files).

    I installed the ‘WP Extra File Types’ plugin and added its MIME type like so:

    Description (*) = Microsoft Excel – Macro-Enabled Workbook
    File Extension (*) = xlsm
    Mime Type (*) = application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.macroenabled.12

    Then, I tried to upload my Excel Macro files, but I still received this error message:
    “Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.”

    I researched online a lot. I think this info may be useful:

    However, I’m not familiar with PHP. If you can give me any advice to resolve this, I’d appreciate it very much.

    In Settings – Extra File Types:
    – have you checked “Check only file extensions” ?
    – have you checked “Skip WordPress checks” ?
    – have you checked “Microsoft Excel – Macro-Enabled Workbook” ?

    have you any .xlsm file you can share with me to let me do some extra test on it ?
