I’m running the redirect plugin for my site, foo.com. I don’t use the site that often, so I set up a Quick Redirect for my homepage (foo.com) to redirect to another site (bar.com).

Now, when I visit foo.com/wp-admin, I end up at foo.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php?_wp_http_referer=%2Fwp-admin%2F which tells me that my database tables are up to date… and when I click the “Continue” button, I am redirected past my Dashboard straight to bar.com.

No matter what I try, I can’t access my Admin Dashboard for foo.com.

    HELP! ??

  • Seth,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

First – You should never redirect the root domain directly, or you will have issues. If you do need to redirect the Home page, you should set a page as the Home (in the normal WordPress settings/reading options) and redirect THAT page as an individual redirect. Then you will not have any issues.

Second – Now that the redirect is set up, you will not be able to log in to turn it off, so you have two options:

    1. This one may not work but it is the easiest. In your address bar, type https://foo.com/wp-login.php and see if you can login.
    2. This is more involved, but will work. Access the site folders using an FTP client or your file manager on your host site. Go to the folder where your plugins are stored (usually from the root it is /wp-content/plugins/). Rename the quick-page-post-redirect-plugin folder to something else (like ‘old-quick-page-post-redirect-plugin’ or something ). Then clear your browser cache and cookies and try to log in again. After you get in, you will have to rename the plugin folder back and the remove the redirect.
    3. Let me know if you still have issues.
      Warmest regards,
      Don

    Don,

Thanks for your quick, responsive help. We got this solved!

    Hi Don,
I’m not able to login in site, I’ve deactivated plugin through FTP and I can login, but when I reactivate it again, the wp-admin login not works.
