I can’t open any of the backend editing boxes

None of the content editing widgets will open for me on the backend. For instance, I click edit on the content page and scroll down past the text editor to the theme content boxes. I click on the settings icon and modal pops up but that is it. It attempts to open with a progress wheel but never actually opens. I can create a new and edit it but after the page is published it won’t let me edit it anymore. The site we have is not live yet but it is online and I may be able to grant access if a solution is not readily available.
