  • Maybe you should check if your theme is updated, as this error seems to be triggered by a theme file:
    /wp-content/themes/metro-pro-v2.2.2/lib/woocommerce/woocommerce-notice.php

    Hello @abirahemmed3

I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
@ucsendre Thank you for your suggestion.
@abirahemmed3 Can you please temporarily switch the theme to default and try to install W3 Total Cache and let me know if the issue persists?
Are you using any other caching plugin by any chance?
    Thanks!

Hi, I can’t activate the W3 Total Cache plugin. I get the message: Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. No error details are provided. All themes, plugins, are updated. I uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin, no joy. I switched to a default theme and I get the same error.
I recently uninstalled the WP Rocket plugin before I installed W3 Total Cache. Could this be a factor?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello @lelandhoover
    Thank you for the information.
Yes, it’s possible that after removing the previous plugin, some leftovers may have remained.
Can you please try to completely remove W3 Total Cache and re-install it?
    1. Purge Cache
    2. Deactivate and Delete Plugin
    3. Check .htaccess File (make a backup)
W3TC will create many directives in the .htaccess file to control caching behavior. Each section will start and end with comments like “#BEGIN W3TC Page Cache core” and “#END W3TC Page Cache core”.
Ensure that no residual entries are leftover in your .htaccess file after deleting the plugin.
    4. Delete wp-content files and folders
    – cache folder
    – w3tc-config folder
    – object-cache.php (if exists)
    – advanced-cache.php (if exists)
    – dbcache.php (if exists)
    – upgrade folder
    – delete w3-total-cache folder in wp-content/plugins/ (if exists)
    5. Delete Cached Files from CDN (if using CDN)
Besides deleting all the relevant files, if you use CDN then ensure to purge the cached content from your CDN. This is necessary when you enabled the minify option in W3TC settings. You should delete the minified and combined scripts and CSS files from your CDN server to avoid the site breaking on the browser.
    6. Go to your wp dashboard and re-install W3 Total Cache

Please let me know if this works.
    Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for your response. I followed the instructions. No change.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    [blank line]
    then (reactivate plugin)”

I suspect there is residual stuff from the wp-rocket installation.
    What next?

    And thanks for your help!

    Hello @tanmaymeh @lelandhoover

    Thank you for the information.
Can you please try to install the previous version of the plugin? Please download the previous version from here and let me know the result.
    Thanks!

I was having the same issue and installing the previous version of the plugin did the trick and I was able to install… thanks!

Installing the previous version worked for me. It recommended that I remove a previous addin cache, which I did. The upgrade to the current version worked fine.
    Thanks!
