I can't get it to work

How are you testing to see if the plugin is working? Are you using any caching plugins or hosting that automatically provides caching?

I go to the feed of my site to see if it gives the specific exceprt that I want. I have even waited up to 24 hours to see if it works and nothing still.

My hosting does provide caching. Do I need to do something different because of that?

Typically web hosts that provide caching also provide a way to flush the cache. I would insert your <!– more –> tag, flush the cache, and then load up the feed directly in Chrome’s incognito mode. This should ensure that caching isn’t an issue.

If that doesn’t work, perhaps you could provide a link to your site / feed and indicate where you have the <!– more –> tag?

I am not sure how to do the flush. But if I added the tag to a never published post and then had it publish today. In that post, it did not work either.

The feed I am using this on is https://www.christianquotes.info/feed. I am adding the tag right before the word “commentary”.

Hmm… maybe I should back up a bit. Did you insert the <!–more–> tag using the button in the text editor? Are there any spaces currently between the dashes and the word ‘more’? Any spaces can cause the tag not to work.

FYI, the <!–feed–> tag was an idea that hasn’t actually been implemented.

Looks like I used some spaces like this <!– more –>. Should it be without the spaces?

I am not using the text editor. Does that matter?

Correct, just replace <!– more –> with <!–more–> and it should work fine. If you want to change the text used for the link, you can do something like this: <!–more Find out more!–>

By the way, thanks for this dialogue… I didn’t actually realize that the spaces were important either until I tested a few things out since you were having trouble.

By the way, I think the <!–feed–> idea is a really good one. I am not using the original functionality of the <!–more–> tag but if I ever wanted to, I would not be able to.

Have you heard of this breaking a newsletter that reads from a feed? My newsletter stopped working now and the only thing I can think of that changed was adding this plugin.

Hmm… I can’t think of why that would happen. How about you open a new topic for that since I’ve closed this one. Any information you can give on your setup like what newsletter system you are using, errors you may be getting, etc would be helpful. If possible, I always try to reproduce the issue on my end.
