I have a hosting package on HostGator, and I’m trying to install and launch www.remarpro.com so I can link that and WordPress.com I’ve done this in the past but for some reason now nothing is working. I download the zip and then have no idea where to go from there. I have read all the “5 minute installation” lists on this website but unless you know what you’re doing this stuff makes no sense to a normal no techy person. I have been going at this for over a month and am so discouraged. Someone please HELP!

I don’t have HostGator so I can’t instruct you on which links to press, but the goal here is to create a new database and that’s it. Steps further on will populate that database, but you don’t need to worry about that for now.

If you’re still having doubles getting past this step, it’s worth waiting until someone who knows HostGator posts here – or creating a support ticket at HostGator to ask how to create a database.

I’m totally new to this. Used Front Page for years and then it changed to Microsoft Expression which I cannot make head nor tail of. I have my own server (and it’s getting harder managing THAT!

Does WordPress have to be installed on the server and how on earth do I do it – and WHAT do I install. I just want to redo my 6 year out of date website from scratch. Is there an idiot’s guide??

After loggin in into your Cpanel, do you have a “Quickinstall” button, right under Phpmyadmin? If yes, you can try that.
